The purpose of this newsletter is to give you an update on the status of the 6.7 release and a few other items.
The work on Ham Radio Deluxe v6.7 is largely complete. The content in this release is one of the more ambitious efforts we've undertaken in a single release. Because of that, we're running things through the beta testers more than we normally would to make sure we've checked out all the changes.
Personally - I apologize for the delay. It's my hope that we're very close. There are a few minor things we need to fix before publishing the release. Please understand that we are doing everything we can to get this out quickly as we can with good quality in our work.
What's in the 6.7 release?
There are over 60 changes in this release. Among them - the addition of two radios (IC-9700 and TS-890S), the panadapter display for the compatible radios (TS-890S, IC-9700, IC-7300, and IC-7610). We have re-written and improved the callsign lookup function so that it can be better used across the application suite. The database schema has been expanded to better handle adding new fields. We believe we have solved the LOTW matching issues with FT4 confirmations. There are a number of performance improvements in this release and many minor fixes requested by our customers.
(For those who are going to ask - we're in the process of making arrangements to receive an FTdx101D. That will come in a release that follows 6.7.)
I'm always transparent when we have bumps in-the-road. To that end...
We had a problem with the vBulletin software that runs our peer support Forums. We had to take the Forums offline while I worked with an engineer to migrate it to a new server and get vBulletin upgraded.
This movement to a new server also had a negative impact on the support site, the online manual (wiki), and our development site. There is a minor issue with outbound email delivery out of this system that I'm continuing to sort out.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
73 for now. I'm off to take the next beta build through some tests. We hope to have something for you very soon.
